Optima Bus Corp. Lands Largest Bus Order in North American History

You really can’t blame CEO Michael Monteferrante for the note of pride in his voice when he talks about his company‚ Optima Bus Corp.
After all‚ Optima recently was awarded the largest bus order in the history of North America.
Optima’s deal with the Miami-Dade County Board of Commissioners calls for 300 buses‚ spare parts‚ special tools and warranties‚ with an option to purchase 300 more buses. With a $200 million price tag‚ Optima has good reason to celebrate.
But it wasn’t luck that won the day for Optima. “Optima provided Miami-Dade with the best value‚” Monteferrante says. “We gave them a modified design that accentuates the front end to give them [the buses] a more futuristic look. We had a superior quality-control program and a superior service program. We had outstanding customer referrals.”
Monteferrante also cites other reasons for Optima’s success.
