Looking for a hip gift for a friend or the latest trends in fashion? Look no further than Lucinda’s, a truly cool boutique at 329 N. Mead.
It’s in the heart Wichita’s Old Town district on the square, and now that I’ve checked it out, it’s in my heart, as well. I came upon it when asking a girl in the parking garage for directions to a café. She was unclear on the location of the café, but told me she was headed to Lucinda’s on her lunch break to find a gift, where she “could spend all day.” When I entered the shop to continue my quest for directions, I quickly learned why.
The shop carries a great selection of whimsical jewelry, including several lines created by local artists. One side of the store is stocked with fun and funky fashions and accessories that would set even the most discriminating trend-setters apart, while the other side is stocked to the brim with gift items like candles, stationery, novelty items and home décor pieces. There is so much going on that it is almost hard to focus, but whenever I trained my gaze I found myself picking something up. In fact, I had just flipped through a great gift catalog on the plane and made mental notes about several items, only to find them at Lucinda’s when I stopped in to ask for directions.
