INTRUST Bank Builds Legacy of Community Service
Published Aug 17, 2009

Talk about a family legacy. Four generations of the Chandler family have been at the helm of the oldest “homegrown” bank in Wichita‚ INTRUST Bank.

Chartered in 1876‚ C.Q. Chandler II purchased the institution in 1900‚ and his great-grandson‚ Charlie Chandler IV‚ is now the chairman‚ president and CEO.

“We’re very proud of the fact that we’re still located in downtown Wichita‚” says Diane Iseman‚ vice president of corporate communications. “We’ve been here in the same spot since 1900.”

But the real legacy of INTRUST Bank – now with 41 branches throughout the state – may be its continuous com munity involvement over the decades.

As the founder of both the Wichita Orthopedic Clinic and the Kansas Society for Crippled Children‚ C.Q. Chandler II was a well-known philanthropist.

Today‚ INTRUST carries on that legacy of service through its support of scholarship funds‚ programs for underprivileged children‚ adult education initiatives and agencies such as the Boys & Girls Clubs.

Why all of the focus on service? Iseman says it’s simple: “A bank is only as good as the community that it’s in.”
